Frank Green – Pictures of Liverpool
MAJOR EXHIBITION OF FRANK GREEN’S WORK AT ORIEL PLAS GLYN-Y-WEDDW, 24th JANUARY – 22nd MARCH, 2015.
A new exhibition of Frank’s work entitled ‘Frank Green and the Welsh Builders’ which focuses on ‘the disappearing 19th century terraces, many built by builders who went to Liverpool from north Wales’ opens to the public on Saturday 24th January at Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw on the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula in north Wales.
Featuring drawings and paintings from a catalogue of work spanning five decades, it stands as a testimony to the craftsmen and builders who dedicated their lives to building this city and as a tribute to their disappearing legacy. The exhibition also includes new work by the artist and is a rare opportunity to purchase original pieces.
A bilingual book ‘Frank Green a’r Adeiladwyr Cymreig/Frank Green and the Welsh Builders’ with images of the artist’s work and text by Gareth Wyn Jones has been published by Gwasg Carreg Gwalch to accompany the exhibition. The book will be launched at 1.30pm on the 24th of January at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw as part of a special day of celebrations around the exhibition. Entry to the event is free but if attending for the whole day lunch may be booked in advance at £2.50 per person. For further details, please visit: http://www.oriel.org.uk/en/whats-on/details/131 or get in touch via phone: 01758 740763 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Frank will also be giving a talk in relation to his work and the exhibition on Sunday, 8th February at 2.30pm at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw. See above link for further information.
About Frank Green
Frank Green has been painting Liverpool landscapes for over fifty years. He works mainly in watercolour but also in oil, pen & ink, pastel, chalk, conté crayon and pencil.
Many of the scenes painted by Frank have since disappeared and his work now serves as a valuable record and tribute to his beloved home town. His most popular subjects include the Liverpool Waterfront, Everton and Liverpool FCs, the Mersey Ferry, and the Town Hall. He has also painted many streets, pubs and churches within such districts as Walton, Anfield, Mossley Hill, and the City Centre.
Over 100 prints have recently been added to the Frank Green – Pictures of Liverpool Galleries including Dale Street, Ferry Boat at Sunset, Liverpool Town Hall and over 40 pubs, streets and churches. Click on the side-bar or dropdown menu to view the latest additions.
Talks and Demonstrations
Last year, Frank took part in the hugely successful North Wales ArtFest organised by the Denbighshire Art Society. He was also a guest speaker for the Society and led a demonstration in composition for the members which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Frank has had two major retrospective exhibitions: at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum, Birkenhead in 2005 and at the Liverpool Academy of Art, Seel Street, Liverpool in 2011. Frank’s work has also been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Information about future exhibitions and other past exhibitions will be added to the site in the near future.
