Frank Green – Pictures of Liverpool
MAJOR EXHIBITION OF FRANK GREEN’S WORK AT ORIEL PLAS GLYN-Y-WEDDW, 24th JANUARY – 22nd MARCH, 2015.
A new exhibition of Frank’s work entitled ‘Frank Green – Liverpool and the Welsh Builders’ which focuses on ‘the disappearing 19th century terraces, many built by builders who went to Liverpool from north Wales’ opens to the public on Saturday 24th January at Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw on the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula in north Wales.
Featuring drawings and paintings from a catalogue of work spanning five decades, it stands as a testimony to the craftsmen and builders who dedicated their lives to building this city and as a tribute to their disappearing legacy. The exhibition also includes new work by the artist and is a rare opportunity to purchase original pieces.
A bilingual book: ‘Frank Green – Lerpwl a’r Adeiladwyr Cymreig / Liverpool and the Welsh Builders’ has been published by Gwasg Carreg Gwalch to accompany the exhibition. It contains images of the artist’s work and text by Gareth Wyn Jones. The book was launched on the 24th of January at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw as part of a special day of celebrations around the exhibition.
Following the success of the Liverpool launch of the book on 31st January at the Central Library, we invite you to join us on Sunday 22nd February at the Liverpool Central Library (4th Floor), William Brown Street, 2pm-4pm, where Frank will be talking to Nia Roberts, editor of ‘Frank Green – Liverpool and the Welsh Builders’ and curator of his current exhibition, about his life and work.
Following the talk there will be a Q&A session with the artist and a book signing.
This is a FREE drop-in event and we look forward very much to seeing you there.
